Water-EG has just completed expansion and rehab of the West Carteret Water Corporation's main plant, in partnership with T. A. Loving Construction and The East Group Consulting Engineers. Water-EG provided new horizontal pressure filters for iron removal capacity up to 1,200 gallons per minute. Water-EG also provided additional color removal vessel and softener vessel. In addition to the new equipment added, Water-EG upgraded all of the existing color removal and softener vessels with new media and control valves.
Skid-Mounted Package Filters
Water-EG has completed start-up of a new package iron removal filter system for Lower Mahanoy Township. Water-EG has worked closely with the plant's operator and the consulting engineers, Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc., to pilot test several processes for iron removal at the site. In the end, all parties agreed on using the manganese Greensand media approach and Water-EG supplied a complete skid-mounted package of filters; all pre-piped and pre-wired with media installed at the factory. The filter vessels are protected by a unique process known as aluminum metallizing and covered with a clearcoat of polyurethane. The aluminum coating over the carbon steel vessel will insure that rusting will never occur. The filters are consistently producing iron levels in the finished water of 0.1 mg/L and less.
